English Literature came to life on Tuesday, July 6, when Year 9 and 10 students were treated to performances from The Globe Players Theatre Company.

The fantastic actors performed both An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley and Macbeth by William Shakespeare, which all students will study as part of their GCSE English Literature.

The actors condensed key scenes of both plays, splicing it with analytical commentary to focus on what was really important. They were also amazing at performing a range of different roles, often switching within the same scene.

Head of English Emily Bevan said: “This was an incredible experience for students and staff to be part of, especially considering that most of us have not seen live theatre since the start of 2020!”

After the performances students had the chance to ask questions of the actors, ranging from: ‘Would you change any of the decisions you made 10 years ago?’ to ‘What advice do you have for budding actors?’.

Thank you to The Globe Players Theatre for coming to perform to us.
