We were very excited to welcome staff, students and parents to House Quiz on Thursday 2nd October. It was an incredible evening that was a perfect night for quiz fanatics.

Following the head scratching preliminary rounds (in which our teams had to name films from their first lines, identify caricatures of famous singers, name artists and titles of album covers and identify nuts before working our whether they were actually nuts) we started the pub quiz rounds. Two of these were written by our House Captains, Maddie and Erin and covered themes such as General Knowledge, Music and the Movies. We were blown away by the incredibly specific knowledge on display during Mastermind with the specialist subjects for our House Captains being Gavin and Stacey, Would I Lie to You, Station 19 and the High School Musical Trilogy. The University challenge round saw teams made up of students from different year groups battle each other in a game of knowledge. There were also two Taskmaster challenges the first saw our brave heads of house trying to throw a tea bag into a cup from the furthest distance. Using a mix of dexterity and cunning (he made the teabag a bit soggy) Mr Chattock won that round.

But it was Benyon that won the Taskmaster team round, in which teams had to work together to make an individual look bigger than they are. Benyon came up with the ingenious idea to use shadows to make their person much bigger than any of the other teams.

It was neck and neck throughout and this was seen in the final score with only one point separating the top three teams but Scott coming out on top!

The Rank order was:

4th place – Hunt

3rd place – Benyon

2nd place – Piper

1st place – Scott

See you again next year for some more fun and games. Don’t forget that our second House competition – House Performance is on Tuesday 21st October at 7pm. See you there!
