After a long wait over the summer, Year 13s finally have those all-important pieces of paper in their hands and can now focus on their next steps.
Overall, 12% of all grades were A*- A and 62% of grades were A*-C
Headteacher Charlotte Badarello, said: “We are delighted that so many of this incredible year group have secured their places at prestigious universities and degree apprenticeships. This cohort have shone brightly in their seven years, and contributed significantly to the school’s recent success, taking the lead roles in multiple school productions, and acting as ambassadors for younger students. This year’s results include four students from Brazil, Italy, Hungary and the Ukraine who have overcome significant language barriers, thrived in our supportive Sixth Form, and are now in a strong position to progress their studies further.”
More than a third of this year group benefited from studying a broader curriculum than the traditional three A Level offer, this included an extensive careers programme and First Aid for all students, equipping them with vital skills as they move into the world of work. Our students have heavily supported our growing school community, and have also led whole school events including our successful Toilet Twinning charity campaign.
With a wealth of individual success stories, including students who two years ago couldn’t speak English and have gone on to achieve A* results, it is difficult to narrow these down but we are delighted to share:
- Lily Varley, A*A*AA, going to University of Bristol to read Biomedical science. Lily said she is ‘shocked’ with her As and A*s but ‘so happy’ to be going on to Bristol. She hopes to have a career working as a scientific researcher.
- Alex Moore, A*AAA, going to University of Warwick to read English Literature.
- Beatriz Bruscato, A*AAB, going to University of Sussex to read Law. Beatriz’s success is all the more remarkable as she is originally from Brazil, so English is a second language. Beatriz, who wants to be a solicitor, is ‘delighted’ with her results and plans to celebrate at a BBQ later.
- Alfie Hopcroft, BBB, can now fulfil his dream of working in the music industry as he is off to study Popular Music Performance and Music Production at BIMM Music Institute in Bristol
We also have students going to apprenticeship positions at organisations including the British Government and the Formula One company Xtrac.
We are enormously proud of all our Year 13s, who have worked incredibly hard. The commitment they have demonstrated to themselves and their community will ensure that they are ready for studying at university or apprenticeship level or going into employment this autumn. We wish them every success.
- Theale Green School is offering information, advice and guidance to anyone who is unsure as to what to do next after their A Levels.
