🐟 Something fishy has been going on in the science lab…

Year 12 Biology students have carried out a fish head dissection, using scalpels to remove the operculum (gill flap) and gill arches before studying the gill filaments and lamellae under the microscope.

While some might find this icky, the students relished the opportunity to do this practical work, which brought to life their current topic on specialised gas exchange surfaces.
