Bright futures ahead as Theale Green School students receive A Level and vocational results

Year 13 students at Theale Green School are celebrating today after receiving their A Level and vocational qualification results, opening doors to an exciting range of destinations.Students collected their results this morning alongside friends, family and staff, reflecting on hard work, determination and personal growth. The day was filled with celebration as students secured places on university courses, apprenticeship programmes and other post-18 pathways.

Overall, the results for the cohort reflect sustained whole school improvements, with students making better progress compared to national average.  Two thirds of grades were A*- C.

There was a fantastic atmosphere around the sixth form as students celebrated their achievements and looked ahead to the future. Staff were on hand to share in their success and provide support to those finalising their plans for September.

Headteacher Charlotte Badarello, said: “we are delighted that so many of this incredible year group have secured their places at prestigious universities and degree apprenticeships.  This cohort are the first to join Theale Green School in year 7 as part of the ALET Trust, and have shone brightly in their seven years, contributing significantly to the success of the school.  These students have taken on lead roles in school productions and have had significant impact in our community through their whole school leadership roles.  These students are now in a strong position to progress their studies further.”

David Holbrook, Assistant Headteacher Sixth Form, said “I am so proud of what this fantastic group of young people have achieved.  They are role models for younger students; their tenacity and resilience has left a firm legacy within the school for many years to come. They have strengthened the culture of leadership within the sixth form and have given back to the local community; the best example of this was our hugely enjoyable annual Pensioner’s Tea Party.  I wish them all the very best for the future.”

Top achievers

Several students achieved exceptional results and are now heading off to top universities, including:

• Jasper Burton – A*AB – University of Durham to study English Literature
• Ed Haines – A*AB – University of Exeter to study International Relations
• Eddie Riches – AABB – University of Bristol to study Physics with Astrophysics
• Lucy McLaren – ABBA* – University of Newcastle to study Geography

Apprenticeship success

In addition to those progressing to university, a number of students have secured sought-after apprenticeship placements, including:

• Megan Lockley with Thames Valley Police.
• Grace Thomas with local accountancy.

Speaking on results day, Emily Clifford, who is heading to study nursing, said:

“I am really excited to start my nursing qualification.  I enjoy helping others and am looking forward to starting my career”
