Guidance for parents regarding who to contact

1. Your Child’s Tutor

Your child’s tutor is usually the first point of contact if you have any questions about their education or welfare.

2. Attendance

For this academic year, illness or on the day absence should be reported on the day via your Class Charts app rather than via telephone message or email.

Mrs Sanders absence@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk is our Attendance Officer. She works with students and parents/carers to promote good attendance and punctuality at school for every student and is the person who receives any absence messages when a student is not well enough to attend school.

3. Medical and First Aid

We have trained a number of support and teaching staff to manage first aid within the school and will operate on a rota basis. First Aid staff are now using a medical tracker in school so if your child does receive first aid you will be notified via email. In the case the first aid issue is more serious you will receive a phone call home. Support and arrangements for students’ medical conditions including the upkeep of their medical plans are overseen by Mrs Drake ddrake@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

5. Safeguarding and Child Protection
Mrs Cartland scartland@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk is our Assistant Head teacher and Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead, with Mrs Stevens, Mr Holbrook, Mrs Badarello as further trained Safeguarding Leads. All concerns about safeguarding come to this team, who work closely with other school staff and service providers to help students be safe.

6. Year Group Culture, Ethos and Progress

Each year group has a Head of Year, they work closely with tutors and students to create a positive culture for learning, respect and engagement.

Year 7 – Mr Green – lgreen@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

Year 8 – Ms Crowley – ecrowley@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

Year 9 – Mrs Bratton – nbratton@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

Year 10 – Mrs Khaliq – skhaliq@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

Year 11 – Mr Neill –  jneill@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk

For this academic year we have introduced two new support roles into our structure; Transform Manager (Mrs Moxon) and Family Support Worker (Mrs Miller). These roles will be by referral only and will work with families/students for a specific period to offer additional support. During the first term we will be extended this team to include a second Transform Manager. Mrs Cartland, Mrs Lloyd and the team will meet weekly to review all referrals and to consider whether support outside of school is needed. If you feel your child needs additional support, please contact your child’s tutor in the first instance who will be able to support with a referral to the team.

7. Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
Mrs Lloyd clloyd@thealegreen.w-berks.sch.uk is our Assistant Head teacher SENCO. Mrs Stevens will be supporting Mrs Lloyd and across the trust in her new Trust Director of SEND and Safeguarding. The SEND team is staff by a number of specialists in literacy, Mathematics and learning support.
