Clubs at Theale Green School

We are very proud of our clubs at Theale Green School.  As you can see from the timetable here we run a wide variety of clubs, including sports like basketball and handball, music and drama, and activities like Dungeons & Dragons, Gardening and Pride Club. If you think something is missing from our club list, then just ask us and we will do everything we can to make it happen.

The easiest way to join a club is to come to the Clubs Fair at the start of the school year. This takes place in the School Hall and is an opportunity to find out about our clubs, meet students who are already involved and sign up!

The clubs take place in a variety of venues either at lunchtime or after school. They are an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new and like-minded people and to have fun!

We are delighted to invite students from primary schools to our shows every year. Our matinee shows are always packed to the rafters! Sometimes we visit the primary schools too, as we did in 2018 when we took The Comic Mystery Plays to Englefield Primary School, Southcote Primary School and Pangbourne Primary School. We look forward to doing this again with our next production.

Each year in October the students take over the hall for an evening of drama, dance, music and food in the Black History Show. We have been celebrating Black History with this event for over ten years it is always an absolute delight!

We also give our students in Year 7 the opportunity to perform together in a production that takes place all over the school! The Mystery Plays have been part of the school calendar since 2006 and have focused variously on bible stories, the lives of scientists and now literary classics. Each drama class takes on a different short play which the audience discover as they wander the school site.

Our sixth form students also perform an exciting piece every year at the Battle Library in Reading. A Winter Haunt is a celebration of local history as you meet characters from the past whilst you wander the library. It is a delightful Christmas treat! You can find out more in this news report here:

Students also have the opportunity to take part in the House Music and performance competitions which you can find out more about here

At the start of each year students are given a “Performance Card”. This is like a loyalty card that is stamped when you attend a performance. For every stamp you get 5 house points and if you get 6 stamps or more your name is entered into a prize draw!

We really look forward to welcoming you to our shows as performers or as audience members. Come and join the fun!
