On Thursday we held our GCSE Awards evening. This event is always a highlight in the calendar, especially for this special group of students who overcame significant adversity to be successful. We were delighted to welcome ex-Theale Green School alumnus, the NY Times & Sunday Times best-selling novelist Diane Setterfield to be our guest speaker.
Diane gave an inspiring speech talking through her journey to success; from being a shy Theale Green schoolgirl, to selling the film rights for her novels the Thirteenth Tale and Once Upon a Time. Diane spoke candidly of the obstacles she has overcome to achieve her success, yet hard work has enabled her to be at the very top of her profession.
We were very grateful to Diane’s publisher, Transworld for generously gifting copies of Diane’s book Once Upon a River, and to Diane for kindly signing each book for our award-winners.
In addition to the subject prize-winners, the winners of our prestigious awards were:
- Alannah White – Leadership Team Cup
- Kush Patel – Governors’ Cup
- Lauren Clifford – Headteacher’s Cup.
Congratulations to all students on their significant achievements, we are all very proud.
