This week marks British Science Week and the Science Department have put together a whole host of activities for students to get involved in…
Not only does the enrichment menu have a number of ‘Do Try This at Home’ challenges, the British Science Week Poster competition, and ‘The Great Science Bake Off’ competition but the House Quiz is also based on the Science Department’s favourite scientists! Keep an eye out for information to help you out, and a social media competition on unusual science equipment being run by our Science Technicians.
Year 7, 8 and 9 will also have a series of lessons looking at the themes of British Science Week:
- Lesson 1 – Innovating for the future will give them the opportunity to look at biodiversity and think about how we can reduce our impact on local habitats
- Lesson 2 – Smashing stereotypes will give them the opportunity to research some unusual STEM careers and think about how they are scientists themselves
- Lesson 3 – ‘Do try this at home’ will give students the opportunity to try some simple experiments that can be done at school or home.
