Our young ladies got an insight into the world of STEM-based careers on Thursday, 23 February, where they got to network with industry role models and find out more about career opportunities in the sector.
Thirty Year 9 girls attended a workshop aimed at encouraging girls into STEM-based careers, organised by Stemettes – a social enterprise working to inspire girls in STEM careers – and hosted by global technology leader Thales at their offices in Green Park Reading.
The students had a very exciting day starting with breakfast, followed by presentations from inspirational female role models. Students were also set a task to design a website (using html coding) which promoted a smart city and present it to their peers and a panel from Thales.
