As part of the weekly ALET Industry Insight series of talks, students were treated to a talk from Aaron Rudman-Hawkins from The Evergreen Agency  on 25th June.

Aaron and his team at The Evergreen Agency help SMEs and corporate organisations with their marketing campaigns, advising and mentoring them on the use of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) strategies. The talk wasn’t just targeted at students interested in a career in marketing, but also the entrepreneurs seeking inspiration on setting up their own businesses and hearing from someone who has.

Aaron talked students through his amazing story of leaving school to finding his dream career and the various roles in along the way. Throughout this time, he was building websites in the background as a hobby and told students how through this and his first role as a Junior Developer he discovered his passion for SEO.

From there, Aaron took the brave step of setting up his very own agency in 2013, dedicated to supporting businesses with this.

The Evergreen Agency is now one of the leading SEO companies in Oxfordshire, going from strength to strength.

Aaron said: “Thanks to Amy and the team at UTC Reading. I thoroughly enjoyed taking the students through my story from cabin crew to business owner. I’ve had a wild ride over the last decade or so and it was fun to look back on the decisions made, risks taken and opportunities seized upon.”

“I hope the students found it useful and take some learnings away from the talk as anything is possible if you work hard and be nice to people.”

The Industry Insights talk series is broadcast via Microsoft Teams Live every Thursday (term-time) at 2pm.

Thank you to Aaron for taking the time to speak with our students and guide them through some very important and valuable life lessons, offering inspiration and a motivation to find a job you are passionate about.
