Theale Green School celebrates A Level and BTEC results
Year 13 students at Theale Green School are celebrating after receiving their much-anticipated exam results, marking the next step in their academic and professional journeys.
Theale Green students are celebrating another fantastic set of A Level and vocational results, achieving half a grade more than the national average.
After a long wait over the summer, Year 13s at the Ofsted rated Good school finally have those all-important pieces of paper in their hands and can now focus on their next steps.
Overall, 20% of all grades were A*- A and 74% of grades were A*- C.
Headteacher Charlotte Badarello, said: “we are delighted that so many of this incredible year group have secured their places at prestigious universities and degree apprenticeships. This cohort has shone brightly in their seven years and contributed significantly to the success of the school. They have taken on lead roles in school productions and have had significant impact in our community through their whole school leadership roles. This year’s results include students from Hong Kong, Portugal, Bulgaria and Poland who have overcome significant language barriers, thrived in our supportive Sixth Form, and are now in a strong position to progress their studies further.”
David Holbrook, Assistant Headteacher Sixth Form, said “I am so proud of what this fantastic group of young people have achieved. They are role models for younger students; their tenacity and resilience has left a firm legacy within the school for many years to come. They have strengthened the culture of leadership within the sixth form and have given back to the local community; the best example of this was our hugely enjoyable annual Pensioner’s Tea Party. I wish them all the very best for the future.”
More than a third of this year group benefited from studying a broader curriculum than the traditional three A Level offer, this included an extensive careers & PSHE programme, equipping them with vital skills as they move into the world of work. Our students have heavily supported our growing school community and have also led whole school events including our successful charity events.
With a wealth of individual success stories, including students who up until a few years ago couldn’t speak English and have gone on to achieve strong results, it is difficult to narrow these down, but we are delighted to share:
- Lauren Clifford, A*AAB, going to University of Durham to read Social Sciences
- James Young A*AA, going to University of Exeter to read Psychology
- Louis Newsham AAA, going to University of Reading to read Business and Management
- Shannon Gill, AAB, going to University of Cardiff to read English Literature
We also have students going to sought-after degree apprenticeship positions in sectors including quantity surveying.
We are enormously proud of all our Year 13s, who have worked incredibly hard. The commitment they have demonstrated to themselves, and their community will ensure that they are ready for studying at university or apprenticeship level or going into employment this autumn. We wish them every success.
For students who are still considering their next steps, the school is offering advice and guidance to support their decision-making in the coming weeks.
