The Taste Kitchen Challenge ran throughout January and February of this year in lockdown and gave students the opportunity to create their own dish inspired by Team GB.

The brief for the challenge meant that students could make any kind of dish they wanted and it could relate to Team GB through use of colour, ingredients and design.

Our school competition for this challenge received many fantastic entries. All of the dishes produced, was clear, had a great deal of thought, time and effort put into them which made the competition very difficult to judge!

Congratulations to all of you who took part in the challenge and produced some really creative and inspiring Team GB dishes.

The overall winner for the challenge, decided by our judge (Mrs Cartland), is Megan Lockley (Scott House) who produced a Team GB inspired stir fry which was a colourful, creative and healthy dish that matched the design brief to brilliant effect. The colours chosen represented the Olympic ring colours and there were also links to Taekwondo as well which was very original.

This was also a house competition. The results are as follows:

  • 1st – Scott
  • 2nd – Piper
  • 3rd – Benyon
  • 4th – Hunt

Well done to all those who took part in this challenge. It was fantastic to see you stretching your cookery skills and getting those creative ideas flowing.
