The Year 7 Awards Evening was a joyful celebration of our students’ achievements as they reach the halfway point of their first year at secondary school.
Families, staff, and students came together to reflect on the remarkable progress the year group has made since September. The evening opened with a warm, encouraging speech by Ms Khaliq, Head of Year 7, recognising the courage, resilience, and determination shown by all Year 7 students in adapting to life at secondary school. Staff praised the positivity and enthusiasm they bring every day, noting how quickly they have become a valued part of the school community.
🎤 A Speech from Poppy – Sixth Form Head Team
Poppy delivered an inspiring and heartfelt message to our Year 7 students. She spoke about her own journey from primary school pupil to Sixth Form leader, reminding students that every success begins with small, consistent steps. Her words were met with enthusiastic applause and left a lasting impression on students and families alike.

This award is presented in honour of Jeannie Tynan, whose dedication, compassion, and unwavering belief in young people continue to inspire our school community. The award recognises a student who demonstrates remarkable promise—someone who shows not only emerging talent, but the attitude, curiosity, and determination that signal a bright future.
This year, the award was presented to Maisie.
Maisie was praised for her integrity, strong sense of right and wrong, high standards, and her thoughtful contributions in lessons. Her enthusiasm for learning and willingness to make courageous, positive choices reflect the spirit of this award perfectly.
🤝 Sharing the Celebration With Primary Schools
To acknowledge the strong partnership we have with our feeder schools, we wrote to primary headteachers and Year 6 teachers to share news of their former pupils’ achievements. Many responded with pride and delight, thrilled to see their students thriving and being recognised so early in their secondary journey.

The evening closed with a message of pride, encouragement, and excitement for what lies ahead. Year 7 were reminded that tonight’s celebration is about more than awards — it marks the incredible growth they’ve shown so far and the even greater potential still ahead.

The evening ended with tea, cake, and plenty of smiles, as families and staff took the opportunity to chat, take photographs, and celebrate the incredible achievements of our Year 7 students.
